There are a number of organisations that exist to oversee the Financial Planning profession, both to protect consumers and assist and represent Financial Planners. More about these organisations, what they do and why it is important that Smart Financial Planning is a memberm, is outlined below.

Institute of Financial Planning

The Institute of Financial Planning is the UK professional body of those committed to the development of the multi-disciplinary profession of Financial Planning and represents and assists Financial Planning practitioners in the UK.

The IFP does not offer advice or planning services directly to consumers. It can however, offer guidance on planner services, and can help find a suitably qualified Certified Financial Planner professional.

The IFP serves a large membership of diverse Financial Planning professionals through a programme of national events and training courses, and a regional ‘Branch Network’ centred around 20 areas across the UK. Certified Financial Planner

Steve Martin of Smart Financial Planning has achieved CFP status. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER CM, CFP and these are international marks representing the highest professional certification globally that can be awarded to a Financial Planner. Financial Services Authority

The FSA is an independent non-governmental body, given power by the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. The FSA is accountable to Treasury Ministers and through them to Parliament. The FSA regulates the Financial Services industry in the UK. Click here to find out more…
